i've got blisters on me fingers!

well i picked up a rouge acoustic guitar a couple of years ago for x-mas and i'm embarrassed to admit that up until about 8 weeks ago i had only picked at the strings a hand full of times over the years. like every other red blooded american boy i took lessons way back in the days of yore, but never really did much more than learn to play a few bars of stairway to heaven. well i stumbled across a wicked cool site called Justin Guitar put together by a cat named Justin Sandercoe. all i can say is i am a justinguitar junkie!

anyway...after a few painful weeks of pickin and strummin my fingertips have developed some decent callouses and i've got the minor pentatonic scales for positions 1 thru 4 down pretty solid for A (position 1 - 3) and D (position 4). i'm roughly following a pattern of study where by i am attempting to learn the neck while getting all 5 positions of the minor pen scale nailed for the three main blues chords A, E, and D.

it's slow goin...but i try to strum every chance i get. i've got a good number of chords down now as well...A, Am, Amaj7, E, Em, D, Dm, G, C, Fmaj, F#maj...and i've even gotten pretty solid on the transitions from the easier chords (A/E/D) to the more difficult (D -> G, G -> C, etc). my goal is to be able to play a decent blues lead and just be able to "play"....i think i'm gonna try and get in on some of the central texas bluegrass association bluegrass jam sessions at artz rib house on sundays...
